READING:

A technology company has made a new device to help clean the air in our home. The company is called Dyson. It has just launched an air purifier called the Pure Cool Link. A spokesperson said the purifier captures up to 99.95 per cent of pollutants in the air in the home. Pollutants are the things that dirty the air, such as dust, smells, chemicals, pollen and smoke. This is great for people who have allergies or for those with asthma. A special fan in the device cleans the air in a room in just 30 to 60 minutes. It also continually monitors the air quality in the home to automatically keep it at safe levels. The device can be linked to an app so that users can control it from anywhere in the world.

Pollution is a growing problem in the world. However, most of us think pollution is only a danger outside the home. This is not always true. James Dyson, the founder of the Dyson company, said: "We think it is polluted outside of our homes, but the air inside can be far worse." Hugo Wilson, the lead designer at Dyson, explained why the air in our homes can be more polluted than the air outside. He said: "Modern homes have been built to be more sealed against noise and trap heat, which means the pollutants we create inside the home are also trapped and build up to levels up to five times more polluted indoors than out." The air purifiers will be on sale for between $500 and $650.
